I’ve never had a massage before. What can I expect?
Once you arrive in our welcoming reception area, you will be given a questionnaire asking about your health, whether you are on certain medications, and the specific areas (if any) that you would like the massage therapist to focus on. These documents are kept safely filed and the information is confidential. Once the questionnaire is completed, you will be shown to the massage room which is focused on relaxation, with dim lighting and soft music playing in the background. The massage therapist will leave the room, giving you time and privacy to disrobe and relax on the massage table, underneath a sheet and/or blanket. When you are ready, the therapist will reenter the room and proceed to provide your massage service. When the service is complete, the massage therapist will exit the room. You may take your time getting off of the table and getting dressed, as we don’t want you to feel rushed, which would defeat the entire purpose of the relaxing experience.
Do I have to be fully undressed during the massage?
This is entirely up to you and your own personal comfort level. You are welcome to leave your undergarments on; however, be assured you will be covered with a sheet and/or blanket, no matter what you decide. Also, know that throughout the session the therapist will undrape each section being worked on as needed. For your comfort, the massage tables are heated and can be adjusted to your preference.
What results can I expect from a massage?
Typically after the massage you will be able to notice a distinct difference in your state of mind. Your reasons for getting the massage, results, and the time in which results occur can vary. With an injury or strained muscles, a massage will offer relief and you will notice a significant increase in mobility after a few consecutive appointments, whereas a massage for the purpose of relaxation can be immediately rewarding. We suggest that you drink plenty of water before and after your massage, as this will help keep you hydrated and will assist in flushing toxins from your body. If at any time your massage is not producing the results you expected please consult with your therapist.
How often should I get a massage?
The simple answer is, “As often as you can!”, but this is something you and your massage therapist should discuss. The therapist will be able to recommend an appropriate amount of time in between sessions so that you get the full benefits from your massage sessions.
What do I wear to my massage appointment?
You are welcome to wear anything you are comfortable in; however we recommend that you not wear necklaces or dangling earrings.
